Why Didn’t We Think Of That?

The Alliance for Food and Farming’s (AFF) new webpage for dietitians has generated positive feedback and interest with the input focused on easy-to-use and targeted content that will be helpful when communicating about produce safety with clients and consumers.
But, the credit really goes to the dietitians and nutritionists because this webpage was their idea, not ours. The webpage creation came to fruition due to a request made during meetings at a produce conference focused on methods to increase consumption. This request came with a list of the information dietitians and nutritionists need to help them reassure consumers and alleviate safety fears regarding pesticide residues. Not only were we given the idea, the AFF was given a “road map” to follow based upon the information needs of the nutrition community to communicate about produce safety.
We listened, had follow-up conversations and meetings which resulted in the launch of the new webpage last month. The dietitian webpage features information about what may negatively and positively impact consumers and produce consumption, the popular pesticide residue calculator, peer reviewed nutrition and toxicology studies, new downloadable infographics to share with clients and consumers and videos featuring registered dietitians, scientists and farmers.
Surveys have shown that consumers find registered dietitians to be among the most credible sources of information specific to produce safety and residues therefore providing this group of influencers with easy-to-share content is an important objective of the AFF.
So our thanks to the registered dietitians who requested this page, provided their input, counsel and guidance. And, we look forward to your continued help as the webpage evolves and grows. This is your page and we will keep listening.
